اگرچه حرفه مشاوره و روانشناسی زمینه نسبتا جدیدی است که هنوز در مراحل رشد خود قرار دارد، تاثیر کلی آن بر جامعه با سرعتی شگرف در حال افزایش است. تعداد روزافزونی از افراد جهت یاری جستن از مشاوران در مورد برطرف کردن مشکلات غیرقابل تحمل زندگی روزمره شامل: بیکاری، مشکلات خانوادگی و زناشویی، عدم اعتماد به نفس، ناتوانی در تصمیم گیری ها، مشکلات آموزشی، مشکلات مربوط به برقراری و تداوم روابط انسانی و مشکلات متعدد دیگر به روانشناسان مراجعه می کنند. بنابراین هیچگاه حرفه ی مشاوره در چنین سرزندگی و توسعه ای قرار نداشته است.

تعاریف مشاوره

در تعاریف متفاوت مشاوره چندین عنصر مشترک وجود دارد. یکی از آنها این است که هدف مشاوره، کمک کردن به مردم در انتخاب راه و عمل کردن بر آن اساس است. دوم، مفهوم یادگیری است، اگرچه تفاوتهای صریحی در مورد آنچه که یادگیری را آسان می کند و چگونگی به وقوع پیوستن یادگیری وجود دارد. در عین حال عنصر دیگری نیز وجود دارد که رشد شخصیت است، اگرچه در زمینه ی اینکه چه چیزی رشد شخصیت را تسهیل میکند، توافق اندکی وجود دارد. مشاوره به رابطه ی حرفه ای بین یک مشاور آموزش دیده و مراجع دلالت دارد. این رابطه معمولا بین دو نفر است، اگرچه بعضی مواقع مشاوره با بیش از دو نفر صورت می گیرد. این رابطه برای کمک کردن به مراجعان جهت درک و روشن کردن نظرات آنها در مورد محیط زندگی خود و یاد دادن راه رسیدن به اهداف انتخاب شده فردی از طریق انتخاب راههای سنجیده و با معنای فردی، و حل مشکلات هیجانی و میان فردی برگزار میشود.

مشاور به عنوان یک فرد

قبل از اینکه به آنچه در جریان مشاوره برای مراجع اتفاق می افتد توجه کنیم، باید فرد دیگری را که در مداخله ی درمانی دخالت دارد، یعنی مشاور را نیز در نظر بگیریم. مشاوران در رفتار شغلی خود بر اساس سه خصوصیت مختلف عمل میکنند: ویژگی های فردی، دانش حرفه ای و مهارتهای خاص مشاوره.ترکیبی از این سه خصوصیت موثر بودن مشاوره را تعیین میکند. بنابراین ویژگی های مشاور به عنوان یک فرد در مقابل آنچه که او واقعا در طول مشاوره انجام می دهد، نیازمند توجه خاص است. آیا خصوصیات فردی خاص می تواند بر موثر بودن روانشناس بیفزاید؟ اگر چنین است این خصوصیات کدامند؟ خصوصیات عمومی مشاوران باید علاقه ی عمیق به مردم و شکیبایی نسبت به آنان، حساس بودن به طرز نگرش و اعمال دیگران، ثبات هیجانی و عینیت، مورد اعتماد بودن و آشنا بودن به حقایق را شامل می گردد.

شش خصوصیت شخصی مشاوران موثر:

1- مشاوران موثر تجارب خود را می پذیرند و نسبت به آنها گشاده و بی تعصب هستند.

2- آنان از ارزشها و باورهای خود آگاهی دارند.

3- آنان قادر به ایجاد و گسترش رابطه ی گرم و عمیق با دیگران هستند.

4- آنان خود را به آن صورتی که واقعا هستند، به دیگران نشان می دهند.

5- آنان سطح آرزویی واقع گرایانه دارند.

نقش مشاور

عدم درک نقش مشاور، بدون شک موثر مشاوران را در مدارس و موسسات کاهش داده است. بیشتر این عدم درک نقش مشاور از ناتوانی مشاوران، در تصریح دقیق نقش هایی که بر عهده دارند ناشی می شود که امکان دراد علت آن این باشد که مشاوران به رضامندی دیگران و برآوردن تمامی خواسته هایی که مراجعان مطرح میکنند، علاقه وافری دارند. اما همچنان بیشتر آنچه در فرایند مشاوره روی می دهد، نتیجه ی انتظار مراجع از عملکرد مشاور است. معمولا به این خاطر به مشاور روی می آورند که انتظار دارند مشاور مشکلاتشان را حل کند و به آنها توصیه کند که طلاق بگیرند، ترک تحصیل کنند یا به دانشگاه بروند. اما اغلب مشاوران تشخیص داده اند که نمی توانند به دیگران بگویند که چطور زندگی کنند.

عملکرد مشاوران:

1- فراهم کردن رابطه ی بین مشاور و مراجع که با اهمیت ترین کیفیت آن این است که بین طرفین اعتماد دو جانبه ایجاد گردد.

2- ایجاد شقوق جانشین در درک مراجع از خود و آنچه که می تواند انجام دهد.

3- مداخله مختصر در موقعیت مراجع و کسانی که در زندگی مراجع دارای اهمیت هستند.

4- رهبری کردن محیط روانشناختی سالم برای مراجعان.

5- بسط و گسترش فرایند مشاوره از طریق انتقاد مداوم فردی و توجه گسترده و بهبود فرایند درمان از طریق تحقیق.

اهداف مشاوره:

1- آسان کردن تغییرات رفتاری: تقریبا تمامی نظریه پردازان عنوان می کنند که هدف مشاوره ایجاد تغییر در رفتار مراجع است تا او را قادر سازد در درون محدودیتهای اجتماع خود زندگی بارورتر و رضایتمندانه تری را در پیش بگیرد.

2- افزایش توانایی مراجع در ایجاد و حفظ رابطه با دیگران: تقریبا تمامی افراد در جریان مراحل رشد روانی و جسمی خود دچار مشکلاتی می شوند. تنها عده ی کمی از ما به تمام تکالیف رشدی خود نابل می شویم و انتظارات و خواسته های متعددی که توسط دیگران بر ما تحمیل می شود اغلب منجر به مشکلات روانی می شوند. کمک کردن به فرد در کنار آمدن و سازگاری با موقعیتها و درخواستهای جدید یکی از اهداف مهم مشاوره است.

3- بهبود فرایند تصمیم گیری در مراجعان: در نظر برخی، هدف مشاوره این است که فرد را به گرفتن تصمیم های حساس قادر سازد. آنها می گویند که کار مشاور این نیست که به جای مراجع تصمیم بگیرد یا اعمال جانشین را انتخاب کند. تصمیم گیری مربوط به مراجعان است و این مراجع است که باید بداند چرا و چگونه تصمیمی را اتخاذ کند. مراجع یاد می گیرد تا عواقب اجتماعی فداکاری و صرف وقت ، انرژی، سرمایه و ریسک و نظایر آن را حدس بزند. مراجع یاد میگیرد تا میزان ارزشهای موقعیت ها را کشف کند و این ارزشها را با هشیاری کامل در فرایند تصمیم گیری بکار گیرد.

4- بهبود روابط: بیشتر اوقات انسان در کنش متقابل با دیگران صرف می شود اما در عین حال، بسیاری از مراجعان در ارتباط خود با دیگران مشکل عمده ای دارند. این مشکل ممکن است از خودانگاره ی ضعیف مراجع حاصل شده باشد که باعث شوند او در ارتباط هایش حالت تدافعی بگیرد، یا اینکه ممکن است از ناتوانی مهارتهای اجتماعی در او ناشی می شود. مشاوران همواره با مراجعان خود در جهت افزایش کیفیت ایجاد ارتباط با دیگران کار می کنند.

5- تسهیل شکوفایی استعدادهای بالقوه: رشد دادن استعدادهای بالقوه مراجعان همواره یکی از اهداف مورد تاکید بوده است.

مشاور و روانشناس فردی است که هدفمند باشد و جلسات مشاوره را با برنامه ریزی اداره کند، از سوگیری پرهیز کند و ویژگیهای یک روانشناس را داشته باشد که پیش از این به آن اشاره شد.
