_ بی قراریش را بپذیرید:

سالهای نوجوانی، دوران دشواری است، زمان سوء ظن، در خود به دیده ی تردید نگریستن و رنج بردن است.دوران آرزوهای دنیوی و شهوت و مجاهده و رنج و عذاب شخصی است، زمان ناسازگاری و دمدمی مزاجی و دلسردی است. در این سن شخصیتی در حال شکل گرفتن است و این شکل گیری به گذشت زمان احتیاج است. از تجربه و راهنمایی دیگران هم کاری ساخته نیست. دورانی است که باید مسیر طبیعی خود را پشت سر گذارد.

_ تظاهر به دانایی بیش از اندازه مکنید:

نوجوانها با همه چیزدانها و کسانیکه که مدعی همه چیز دانی هستند رابطه خوبی ندارند. تقریبا همه نوجوانها در برخورد با گرفتاریها احساس مشابهی دارند. در نظر آنها احساسشان بدیع،شخصی و منحصر به فرد است.آن طور که گویی احساسشان به قدری خصوصی است که کسی قبلا آن را تجربه نکرده است. وقتی به آنها میگویی(( احساست را کاملا درک میکنم.من هم همسن تو بودم همین احساس را داشتم)) انگار که توهینی در حقشان کرده ای. فهمیدن اینکه نوجوان چه موقع انتظار درک شدن و چه زمان انتظار درک نشدن دارد وظیفه ی ظریفی است. واقعیت تلخی است که علیرغم همه ی دانایی ها نمیتوانیم برای همیشه در نظر نوجوانها مدبر و همه چیزدان باشیم.

_تفاوت پذیرفتن و تایید کردن:

باید میان تحمل و تصدیق و به عبارتی پذیرفتن  و تایید کردن تفاوت قایل شویم. تحمل میکنیم اما این تحمل نشانه ی تصدیق و تایید نیست. هر پدر و مادر خردمندی میداند که جنگ و جدل با نوجوان چون جنگیدن با امواج خروشان دریا بی حاصل و نابخردانه است. شناگر ماهر در برخورد با امواج متلاطم دریا از تقلای بی حاصل دست میکشد، میداند که در این شرایط جنگیدن با امواج، راه رسیدن به ساحل نیست.به جای آن با حفظ آرامش خود را روی امواج شناور میکند و آنقدر استقامت به خرج میدهد تا به نقطه ی امنی برسد و جای پای محکمی پیدا کند و به همین شکل والدین هم باید در جریان زندگی مترصد فرصت و جای پای محکم باشند.

_ عیب جویی نکنید:

بسیاری از پدرها و مادرها برای سرپوش گذاشتن بر عیوب خویش،به اصطلاح پیش میگیرند و برای آنکه جای حرفی نماند، از کامل بودن و بی عیب و نقص بودن خود دم میزنند و به طور دائم به مورد و بی مورد از رفتار نوجوانشان انتقاد میکنند و در مقام راهنمایی و نصیحت او حرف میزنند. این دسته از والدین وظیفه خود می دانند که به صلاح فرزند، نقایص او را گوشزد کنند. متاسفانه این کار، هر چند صادقانه رابطه میان پدر و مادرو نوجوان را خراب میکند. جدل بر سر عیب و ایراد و بر آن نامی گذاشتن بی فایده است. نوجوانی که به جبر و آشکارا به قبول عیب و نقص خویش رضایت میدهد علاقه ای به اصلاح خود پیدا نمیکند. وقتی عیب و نقص عیان و مشخص است وظیفه فوری ما این است که نوجوان را در برخورد با بحران موجود یاری دهیم.

_ استقلال بدهید:

نوجوان وابستگی را دوست ندارد. پدر و مادرهایی که وابستگی فرزندان نوجوان خود را می خواهند، خواسته و ناخواسته، اسباب رنجش آنها را فراهم میکنند. نوجوان استقلال میخواهد، هر چه احساس خودکفایی او را بیشتر تقویت کنیم، از ضدیت او با خود می کاهیم. پدر ومادر مدبر هر روز که میگذرد بیشتر به فرزند نوجوانشان استقلال می دهند.

_ در اصلاح حقایق عجله نکید:

نوجوان اغلب نسبت به اصلاح گفته هایش واکنش نامناسب نشان میدهد.با این کار امکان آموزش و جلب دوستی او را از بین می برید. کاری میکنید که نه به حرف کسی گوش کند و نه قدمی در راه اصلاح خویش بردارد.

_  به خلوت نوجوان احترام بگذارید:

نوجوان محتاج خلوت است تا زندگی را از آن خود سازد. احترام به این خلوت نشانه ارجی است که برای آنها قایل میشویم تا مستقل از ما رشد کنند. بعضی از پدر مادرها بیش از حد کنجکاوی میکنند، نامه های نوجوانان خود را می خوانند و به صحبت های تلفنی او گوش میدهند. دخالت های بی جایی است که گاه به دلخوری ابدی منجر می شود. نوجوان احساس بی صداقتی و دخالت بی مورد میکند. در نظر او این دخالت و این تجاوز توهین و بی احترامی است. بعضی از نوجوانها معتقدند که پدر و مادرشان بیش از حد در زندگی اجتماعی آنها مداخله می کنند.

_ برچسب نزنید:

رفتار بسیاری از پدر و مادرها با نوجوانها به گونه ای است که انگار آنها ناشنوا هستند. در حضور آنها درباره شان چنان صحبت میکنند که انگار شیئ و بی جان هستند. گذشته ها را ارزیابی میکنند و درباره ی آینده نظر بدهند. این قبیل برچسب زدنها خطرناک است، بچه ها خیلی زود نقش های پیشنهادی پدر و مادر را می پذیرند.
