مطالبی که کودکان در سنین مختلف در خصوص مسائل جنسی باید بدانند:

کودک تا پنج سالگی باید مسائل زیر را بداند:

_ نام صحیح اعضای بدن از جمله اعضای تناسلی

_ بدانند که نوزاد از کجا دنیا می آید.

_ مفهوم فضای خصوصی را هنگام تعویض لباس و رفتن به توالت بدانند.

_ تفاوت خصوصی و سری بودن

_ بتواند به راحتی به والدین خود اعتماد کند و درباره ی جنسیت صحبت کند

_ نسبت به هویت مذکر یا مونث بودن خود اطلاع داشته باشد و از تفاوت میان زن و مرد چیزهایی بداند.

کودک بین 6 تا 9 سالگی باید مسائل زیر را بداند:

_ بتواند تولید حیوانات و گیاهان را به عنوان بخشی از چرخه حیات آنها درک کنند.

_ در خصوص سئوالاتی چون: نوزادان از کجا می آیند، چطوری توی دل مامان می روند، چطوری بیرون می آیند، آگاهی داشته باشند.

_ از تفاوت بین دو جنس آگاه باشند و بتوانند از واژگان صحیح برای اشاره به اندام تناسلی خود و جنس مخالف استفاده کند.

_ مفاهیم مربوط به خانواده، پدر ورمادر شدن، طلاق و ازدواج مجدد را بفهمند.

_ مفاهیم دوستی و عدالت را بفهمد و بتواند احساسات خود را با والدین در میان بگذارند.

اگر تا سن نه سالگی هنوز با فرزندان خود درباره ی جنسیت صحبت نکرده اید، کار از کار نگذشته است و حتما در اولین فرصت این کار را انجام بدهید.

کودک 9 تا 13 سالگی باید مطالب زیر را بداند:

_ جنسیت را به عنوان بخش طبیعی از زندگی درک کنند.

_ با تغییرات طبیعی دخترها و پسرها در دوران بلوغ مانند عادت ماهیانه آشنا باشند.

_ روند تولید مثل، از جمله آمیزش جنسی، پدر ومادر شدن را بداند.

_ بدانند سوء استفاده جنسی چیست؟ و چگونه می توان آن را تشخیص داد. چگونه می توانند خود را در مقابل آن محافظت کنند و در موقعیت هایی که بالقوه خطرناک هستند، چگونه باید رفتار کرد.
